Expression Of Intent
John and Jane, do you come before this gathering of friends and family to proclaim your love and devotion for each other? If so, please respond with a resounding, “we do!”
Do you promise to affirm, respect, and care for each other, during times of joy and hardship? Do you promise to share your feelings of sadness and happiness? Do you pledge to remain faithful to each other?
John and Jane, you stand before me today as two mature and thoughtful people, who wish to confirm your love for each other and express your willingness to continue this journey together, witnessed by your family and friends present.
Will you love and honor each other for the rest of your lives?
Jane, do you proclaim your love and devotion to John? Do you promise to affirm him, respect and care for him during times of joy and hardship? Do you commit yourself to share your feelings of happiness and sadness? Do you pledge to remain faithful to him?
I do (reverse and repeat)
John and Jane, you have come here today from your varied life experiences to make public the commitment you have made, each to the other. You come to combine your two separate lives into one.
